Whether you’re looking to be a little

bit healthier or a lot more healthy the place to be Saturday is the

St. John’s “Road to Health” Health Fair.

The health fair is Saturday, April 2 at

the Memorial Center from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The health fair celebrates health and

wellness with the community by bringing together a wealth of

information.

Among the booths and fair exhibits will

be wellness-related displays and activities including a sun screen

advocating Tiki Hut sponsored by the SJLH nursing department,

fun-filled activities for the mind and body by the SJLH

rehabilitative services department and many fun and educational

activities and booths.

There will be free give-a-ways

including a few high ticket items such as vitamin D Screenings and

a disaster backpack complete with 188 items.

Discounted screening vouches will be

available for those who missed the pre-fair screenings. Tests

include total cholesterol, glucose, glycohemoglobin, anemia,

prostate and thyroid. Once again, local medical providers will be

on hand to answer questions concerning the pre-fair health

screening results and other health concerns.

“The Health Fair is designed to provide

people of all ages with information about a wide variety of health

and wellness topics and resources in our community, all in a fun,

fair-like atmosphere,” said Susan Horelick, wellness manager at St.

John’s.

Bone density testing will be offered.

Testing costs $5 and results are mailed directly to physicians.

Health” Health Fair, contact Horelick at 293-0164.

The American Cancer Society Lincoln

County Relay For Life will hold a pajama party during the health

fair. The party is the kick-off rally for the annual Relay for Life

event.

“We thought the pajama party theme

would be appropriate for this year’s kick-off rally, after all,

cancer never sleeps, so neither will we – not at the kick-off rally

and not at this summer’s Relay For Life,” said Rainy Roth, Lincoln

County chair.

The 2011 American Cancer Society

Lincoln County Relay For Life will be held on Friday, Aug. 5, at

Asa Wood Elementary in Libby.

The kick-off rally has been planned as

a way for those former participants to learn about the new

innovations being offered for this coming summer, and for those new

to Relay to find out more about the event before they choose to

become involved. The rally will also be an opportunity for cancer

survivors to sign on to participate in the ceremonial first lap to

open the Relay, for area businesses to get involved as corporate

sponsors, and for area residents to register as volunteers to help

plan the event.

New to Relay For Life this year will be

the Caregiver’s Garden. Pennants can be purchased and inscribed to

honor the caregiver who drove patients to appointments, took care

of their needs, and offered emotional and physical support.

“It is a wonderful way to honor those

who were always there through thick and thin,” Roth said.

Teams are also being encouraged to

register for the Relay during the kick-off. Those who sign up at

the rally on April 2 will receive the early-bird fee of $50.

Life contact Roth at 334-1042.
