FVCC to host welding trailer open house

Flathead Valley Community College plans

to host an open house from 5:30-7 p.m., on Wednesday, March 9 for

the area’s residents to view the new welding trailer housed at the

college’s Lincoln County campus in Libby.

The tractor trailer featuring 10

welding stations is being utilized to train local residents and

others in Lincoln County to become American Welding Society

certified welders through a new program FVCC launched at its Libby

campus in January.

The college has collapsed the

two-semester program into an accelerated 20-week schedule. Those

who pass the program will be certified welders and eligible to be

considered for employment at Stinger Welding Inc. in Libby,

officials said.

Stinger projects to hire as many as 150

welders by fall 2012.

The open house will include a brief

program at 5:30 in room 127. Tours of the trailer and refreshments

will follow.
