Ailene Cochran

| June 23, 2011 12:04 PM

Ailene Cochran, 79, died Feb. 16, 2011, with her family by her side in San Jose, Calif.

She and her husband, George Cochran have been residents of Troy, Mont., since retirement in 1987.

Ailene was born Nov. 23, 1931, in Eau Claire, Wis., to Lyle G. and Lola Bartlett.  She became a nurse after graduation from high school, a career she loved.

Ailene later returned to college and became a CPA when the impact of bone cancer made it impossible to practice nursing.

She continually beat the physician predications and used those years to perpetually learn.

Words, written and spoken, either in books or the Scrabble board  brought Ailene hours of joy.

The love of good conversation, good books and good friends are passions she passed to her children, Linda, Jim and Laura.

She  is survived by her husband, George Cochran; brother, Lyle K. Bartlett; three children, five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund in Ailene Cochran’s name has been established  to support literacy for children in the Troy area.

Memorials can be made in Ailene Cochran’s name to Lincoln County Public Libraries Foundation 220 W. 6th St. Libby, MT., 59923.
