John H. “Jack” Sims, 74, of Kalispell died Thursday July 21, 2011, at Fawn Creek Camp Ground near Libby.

He was born July 12, 1937, in Kansas City, Kan., to John and Irene Chaszar Sims.

He married Kay Hansen on Aug. 11, 1957, in Reno, Nev.

His hobbies included shooting black powder rifles, archery, and ice fishing.  He also enjoyed telling stories, and if someone would say they had heard that story he would tell it anyway.

John moved with his family to Kalispell in 1996 but told everyone he had been there all his life.

Survivor include his wife of 53 years Kay Sims of Kalispell, Mont.; children John Sims and wife Debbie of Bigfork, Mont.; Toni Sherry and husband Max of Bigfork, Mont.; Doug Sims and  wife Kathryn of California; sister JoAnn Worth and husband Richard of Oregon; brother Dave Sims and wife Dottie of California; seven grandchildren Jamie, Angelina, Johnny, Joseph, Katarina, Trinity, Anastacia and six great grandchildren.

This is a terrible loss for all of us, but we can be certain that he is doing fine in his new hunting ground.

There will be no funeral but an event celebrating his life will be held at the home of Jack and Kay on Saturday July 30th at 3 p.m., at 3113 Foothill Road, Kalispell Mont., 59901, phone: 406 755-0073.
