Lawrence A. Swartz

Lawrence A. “Larry” Swartz passed away

Jan. 23, 2011 at the Libby Care Center after an extended illness.

He was born April 9, 1938 in Great Falls to Michael and Mary

Swartz. He was raised in Stockette and served in the U.S. Navy

during the Korean conflict. He was a gunner on the USS Hornet.

After leaving the military, Larry

returned to Montana and managed stores for both Safeway and

Albertsons. In 1978, Larry moved to Oregon and worked 25 yrs as a

heavy equipment operator on an excavator. He worked all over

Washington and Oregon. In 2003, Larry retired and moved back to

Libby where he loved to fish and hunt.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Swartz

of Libby; the love of his life, his dog “Cookie”; four children,

Kim Wilson, Paul (Reesa) Swartz and Kenneth Swartz – all of Great

Falls; and LeAnn Swartz of Vancouver, Wash.; two stepchildren,

Marcia (Tony) Lewis of Tygh Valley, Ore.; and George Nelson III of

Wamic, Ore.; two adopted children, Todd and Peggy Weaver of

Sheridan, Ore.; brothers, Charlie Swartz and Albert (Ellen) Swartz

of Great Falls; and numerous grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a

later date.

in Libby handled arrangements.
