LHS boys win double-OT thriller
The Libby High School boys basketball team
blew an eight-point halftime lead only to come alive later in a
second overtime on Thursday to defeat Bigfork, 63-50.
The Loggers jumped out to a 17-10 lead in the
first quarter and extended that advantage to eight points by
halftime. But in the third quarter, Bigfork started to click and
the Logger lead got smaller and smaller. Bigfork’s Ian Lorang hit a
three-pointer to force overtime. Later, Colter Trent found Carter
Sorensen for a hoop to force the second OT.
The Loggers took over the rest of the way by
finishing the game with a 14-1 run in the second OT.
James Hare, who played a key role in the
second OT, finished with a team-high 16 points. Fellow big man,
Alex Cislo, added 15 points and Kelly May pumped in 13 for the
Loggers.
Sorensen led the Class B Eagles (8-4) with 17
points.
Libby was involved in another close
nonconference game on Friday with a 42-30 loss to Glacier in
Kalispell. The Loggers led the Class AA school 17-13 at halftime
and entered the fourth quarter in a 25-25 tie.
But in the fourth, the Wolfpack (4-6)
outscored Libby, 17-5, to take the victory.
Cislo led the Loggers with seven points and
seven rebounds. Glacier’s Kyle Griffith finished with a game-high
nine points.
Libby (2-1, 6-5) is scheduled to play Tuesday
at Eureka and at home on Saturday against Whitefish.
