Fundraiser for radio station planned
The Hot Club in Troy plans to host a
fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m. for the community
radio station KVRZ 88.9.
An evening of music includes special guests
Alan Lane with Frank Chiaverini, the Troy Schools’ New Horizons
Choir, Pom Collins and his bag of musical tricks along with the
possible appearance of the poet laureate of the Yaak and several
high-school performers heard recently on KVRZ’s new program,
“Sounds of Troy.”
The New Horizons Choir will be showcasing new
songs in preparation for their invitation to perform at the
Governor’s Conference on Civic Engagement in Helena on Feb. 1.
The community radio station is home various
programs, such as new jazz shows, Jonathan Dunwoody Free Form, Live
from the Hot Club, the Music with a Message Christian Hour, the
World Music show, the Sounds of Troy high school program, the
Bluegrass Hour and several more soon to be on the air.
Music fanatics with a closet full of CDs are
also welcome to pitch their program idea and possibly have it heard
across south Lincoln County and into Idaho.
The station operates under the motto,
“programming of the people and by the people.”
The Jan. 29 event includes a $5 charge for
adults at the doors. Out of the money raisd, two-thirds will go to
KVRZ with one-third going to the Hot Club.
