The Montana Department of

Transportation announced last week its plans to resurface 3.3 miles

of Airport Road near Libby.

The project begins at the intersection

with U.S. Highway 2 and extends southerly to about 1.5 miles north

of Libby Airport.

The public is invited to submit

comments on the project.

Proposed work includes resurfacing the

highway by placing a seal and cover (chip seal) surface treatment

over the roadway and new pavement markings.

The project also includes bridge rail

improvements and new guardrail bridge approach sections for the

bridge over Libby Creek. Existing signing and mailbox supports will

also be replaced.

Officials said construction is expected

to begin this year, depending on availability of funding and

completion of design.
