Coach Wally Winslow calls a play vs. Troy.

Hitting the midway point of the third

quarter, Libby and Troy appeared to be heading to a scorcher of a

finish Thursday in a Class A vs. Class B boys basketball

matchup.

But over the final 12 minutes of game

time, the Loggers seemed to flip on a switch and rolled to a 58-32

victory. In the fourth quarter alone, Libby outscored the Trojans,

22-3.

“Troy was doing things that made it

uncomfortable for us,” Libby coach Wally Winslow said. “We did some

things that were OK but we weren’t exactly in the right positions

at the right time. In the fourth quarter, we got up in transition a

little bit. I think maybe their legs went out a little bit.”

Troy coach Cory Andersen agreed that

the Loggers had more at the end.

“They’re definitely deeper than we are

coming off the bench,” Andersen said. “I think our legs got a

little weary coming into the end of that third quarter. I thought

for two-and-a-half, maybe almost three quarters we were solid

defensively … and then it got away from us.”

Libby held a 23-20 lead at halftime and

started to get some breathing room early in the third following a

slam dunk by James Hare and a basket by Alex Cislo. Troy countered

with a steal and hoop from Kody Hoffman and a bucket by Cory

Orr.

The Loggers kicked their offensive

attack into high gear the rest of the way. Libby’s lead was back up

to seven points heading into the fourth.

Cislo and Hare combined for 29 points

on 13-of-19 shooting. Along with those transition hoops, Libby shot

51 percent from the field. In comparison, Troy shot 29 percent from

the floor.

Kelly May had a big game for the

Loggers with 19 points, including three three-pointers.

“He was in more of an attack mode and

he can play in that open court kind of thing,” Winslow said. “He

has a little more confidence than some of the other kids. That’s

something he has because he’s played for me for four years and he

knows his way around on the floor.”

Cislo had 17 points while Hare finished

with 12.

Cory Orr led the Trojans with 12

points. Ryan Rayson had a game-high eight rebounds.
