SJLH 'Jeans Day' contributes to 'Koats' effort

The Libby Chapter of Kiwanis annually donates more than 1,000 coats to needy persons in Lincoln County through its Koats 4 Kids campaign.

Recently, St. John’s Lutheran Hospital employees took it upon themsleves to benefit this worthwhile effort during their periodical “Jeans Day” campaign, which contributes to local charites.

So, Nov. 18, the employees at St. John’s rallied to support the local not-for-profit organization. 

Kiwanis Koats for Kids was the recipient of $624 and numerous coats donated by the employees from their November Jeans Day fundraiser.

The local Kiwanis gives away 1,000 coats to needy children every year, and in the past 10 years more than11,000 coats have been donated. 

“The employees of St. John’s Lutheran Hospital are thrilled to be able to donate this money and these coats to Kiwanis for their Koats for Kids program,” stated KC Hoyer, Marketing Manager at St. John’s. 

“This is a wonderful program, and our employees are just happy to have the opportunity to give back to the communities that they serve.”

Koats 4 Kids Chairwoman Pam Peppinger said the need continues, and she is asking the public to continue the effort, as coats, mittens, gloves, scarves and even boots are in short supply.

“We’re in need of just about everything,” Peppinger said.

Persons may drop clothing off at Asa Wood School from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
