Bonners Ferry’s strong passing game and ball-control offense helped the Idaho school to a 2-0 victory over Libby on Monday night.

The loss was the first of the season for the Logger boys.

“The Badgers played a very well-organized short passing game that allowed them to control possession and kept the Loggers unbalanced with quick counterattacks,” LHS coach Charlie Webster said.

Andre Zarate scored in the game’s fifth minute to put Bonners on the board. Right before halftime, Alex Mendez scored with an assist going to Zarate.

Libby (5-1-1) outshot the Badgers, 9-3, and had nine corner kicks to Bonners Ferry’s five.

David Brooks made one save for the Loggers.

The Loggers were scheduled to play at Troy’s Roosevelt Field again on Thursday afternoon with a nonconference game against Priest River. Libby’s next game is Saturday at home at 1 p.m., against Whitefish.
