Local instructor Brian P. Baxter will lead three wildlife tracking classes in the region in October.

The day begins with a slide presentation covering more than 50 species of local wildlife. Each participant will receive a laminated set of tracking aids with average measurements of prints and gaits.

The group will then head for the field and spend the rest of the day practicing measurement methods and learning more about the art of tracking.

Baxter has studied with world class trackers, Susan Morse of Jericho,  Verm., and James Halfpenny of Gardiner.

All classes run from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Participants should dress appropriately and bring water and lunch.
