Evelyn I. Anderson
Evelyn I. Anderson, 92, of Troy died Oct. 5, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital in Libby.
She was born Jan. 16, 1918 at Trenton, N.D., the daughter of Eugene and Carrie Fossum Corey. Twin brothers, Elmer and Delmer, and one sister, Luella, awaited her arrival. Later would come the arrival of her baby brother, Oliver Stone.
She attended school in Williston where she found a love for basketball. She played guard on state champion teams of 1934-36. She would still play basketball with her nieces and nephews into her 80s.
She began caregiving to the Pattie family and moved with them to Troy in 1946. She met the love of her life, Terrence Eugene Anderson, and they married on Feb. 14, 1956. She cared for him until his passing in 1990.
She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary in Troy for 40-plus years; an Eastern Star member for 20-plus years; and she bowled at the Trojan Lanes for 40-plus years, making many great friends.
She worked at the Kootenai Senior Center at lunchtime and loved the Birthday Club Girls. Her final years were in Troy living with her nephew, Dennis Stone, and wife, Tena.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Terrence Anderson; three brothers, Elmer and Delmer Corey, and Oliver Stone; a sister, Luella Bailey; and a stepdaughter, Patricia (Pattie) McNulty.
She is survived by many living relatives, including many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; stepchildren and step-grandchildren.
Private family services are planned. Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby handled arrangements.
