Alvin 'Charlie' Robinson

Alvin “Charlie” Robinson, 86, passed away on Oct. 6, 2010 at the Libby Care Center.

He was born July 22, 1924 in Los Angeles to Frank and May (Rogers) Robinson.

He graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in electrical engineering. He served in the Army rank of staff sergeant/E6. He married Gertrude Buehrle on April 9, 1951. He went to work for Lockheed in 1957, working on many communication satellites, including selected Mercury and Apollo missions.

After retirement he enjoyed traveling the country with his wife and grandkids. He moved to Libby in 2005 where he enjoyed fishing and “tinkering” around while living close to his youngest daughter, Marchette. He also volunteered at Kootenai Pets For Life from time to time. He loved building model planes and listening to shortwave radio. He was a member of the local Ham Radio Operators club – W6FCH, off air.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude.

He is survived by his sister, Berdine Mangels of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughters, Allene Liebengerg and husband Paul of Hollister, Calif.; and Marchette Robinson and companion Rob of Libby; son, Dr. Randall Robinson and companion Dina of Placerville, Calif.; grandchildren, Bryann Robinson of Spokane, Wash.; Johathan Liebenberg and Jessica Liebenberg, both of Los Gatos, Calif.; JoAnna Robinson of Placerville; and Kyle Robinson of Los Angeles.

Also mourning his passing are his two “adopted” granddaughters, Jessica and Sabrina, who brought so many smiles to his face the last two years.

Graveside services will be held in Los Gatos.

The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in his name to Kootenai Pets For Life, P.O. Box 1454, Libby, MT 59923.
