Trojan track team competes at district meet

The Troy High School track team qualified 10 individual athletes in 17 events along with three relays for this weekend's Western B divisional in Missoula.

Five Trojans placed in multiple events led by Cory Orr and Ryan Rayson. Both placed in the high jump, long jump and triple jump. Jacob Lopez, Kalip Gregory and Ashley Suber each qualified in two events.

As a team, Troy's boys finished fifth in a competitive meet. Thompson Falls won easily followed by Bigfork, Plains, Eureka and the Trojans.

Orr placed third in both the long jump (19-7 1/2) and triple jump (39-3 1/2) to go along with a sixth in the high jump (5-8). Rayson was third in the high jump (6-0), fourth in the triple jump (39-3) and fifth in the long jump (19-2).

Gregory had the team's highest placing of the day with a second-place finish in the 800-meter run (2:14.59). Gregory also took fifth in the javelin (140-8).

Lopez placed third in the 400 (55.53) and fourth in the 3200 (11:27.07). For the girls, Suber placed fourth in the long jump (13-9 1/4) and fifth in the javelin (85-7).

Others placing for THS included Cullen Metz in the shot put (third, 42-3 1/2), Tom Roeder in the shot put (fourth, 39-4 1/2), Coby Garrison in the 300 hurdles (fourth, 44.70), Blayne Metz in the 400 (sixth, 58.59), Jeremiah Johnson in the 3200 (sixth, 12:08), 

Troy's 400- and 1600-meter relay teams for the boys and the 400-meter relay for the girls also placed. The boys' 400 relay took fourth (48.52), the 1600 relay was fifth (4:10.13) and the girls' 400 relay was fifth (1:02).

The Western B divisional begins Friday and concludes Saturday at Missoula County Stadium.
