Letter: Flood plain project is waste of money
Dear Editor:
I sure would like to have the job of driving around the country demonstrating what erosion is and how it may or may not affect people. To make it even better, I could have a “River On Wheels.” What a waste of taxpayers’ money!
Anyone with half a brain knows that a river can flood and if you build on a flood plain, there will always be a possibility of a 50- or 100-year flood. To me it seems like a ridiculous waste of money to have people playing with the toys and presenting all the what-ifs when it is so obvious.
Then again, what a fun job this would be. Maybe I can get a government grant to make a display for the best direction a house should face if it is built on a flood plain. There should be some checks and balances as to how tax money is spent.
