Dora 'Louella' VanHoose

Dora “Louella” (Bowling) VanHoose died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at her home in Libby.

She was born Sept. 8, 1928 at Westwood, Ky., the daughter of Goebel and Dolly F. (Wells) Bowling. Her mother died when she was 11 years old so she helped raise her sisters and brothers. 

She married Charles L. “Pete” VanHoose on April 5, 1947 at Wenatchee, Wash. They resided at Wenatchee until moving to Kellogg, Idaho in 1959. Her husband retired from Bunker Hill Mining Co., in 1982 and they resided in Pinehurst, Idaho until moving to Libby in 1992.

Mrs. VanHoose loved gardening and cooking for her husband and family. She also enjoyed Cheez-Its and Chicklets, Alan Jackson, shopping and gambling.

“She loved her sisters and her dearly beloved sweetest, never failing granddaughters, Casey and Steph,” family said.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Joan Elizabeth, and three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include her children, Ronald E. VanHoose of Everett, Wash.; Paul L. VanHoose and wife Marilyn of Kingston, Idaho; Richard R. VanHoose and wife Peggie of Lyle, Wash.; Kathleen K. Jenkins and husband Bob; Gary W. VanHoose and wife Marla; and Sheri L. Leggins and husband Carl – all of Libby; two sisters, Jessie Nelson and Goldie Boler of Loon Lake, Wash.; 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, March 19 from 4-6 p.m. at the Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby. Services will be Saturday, March 20 at 2 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church.
