The Lincoln County Health Department announced one confirmed case this week of pertussis, or whooping cough.

Health officials are asking the public to be on the lookout for signs and symptoms of pertussis – coughing spasms that happen repeatedly, whooping sound with cough, or vomiting after coughing spells. Those with symptoms are advised to call their health-care providers.
