Rehberg listening session moved to Libby HS

U.S. Rep. Denny Rehberg's listening session on Sen. Jon Tester’s Forest Jobs and Recreation Act scheduled for Saturday has been moved from the City Hall's Ponderosa Room to Libby High School's Ralph Tate Gymnasium, press secretary Tom Schultz announced late Friday afternoon.

The last-minute venue change was prompted by the Libby Volunteer Fire Department's concerns over the Ponderosa Room's capacity, Schultz said. Steve Lauer, deputy fire marshal, contacted the congressman's office Friday expressing concern that overcrowding could become a problem based on what appears to be high community interest for Rehberg's visit.

Rehberg elected to move the meeting with the late notice rather than risk having the fire department turn people away at the door, Schultz added. The Ponderosa Room's capacity is limited to 163 people while Ralph Tate Gymnasium holds approximately 1,500.

Schultz offered thanks to Libby High School officials for making arrangements so the move could take place.

The listening session's start and end time remains the same – 3 to 4:30 p.m. The event is open to the public and Rehberg will take comments and questions from anyone who wishes to be heard.
