Erik Leigh of the Lincoln County Environmental Health Department issued a Stage 1 air advisory on Thursday afternoon.

The advisory is not a full-scale air quality alert. Under a Stage 1 advisory, the health department is asking for voluntary use of an alternate heat source.

"PM (particulate matter) 2.5 concentrations have remained consistently high throughout the day and long-term averages have reached maximum limits," Leigh said. "We had anticipated better ventilation but it has been slow in getting here."
