Carl Barnes

Carl Barnes, 78, died Jan. 9, 2010 at his home in Troy.

He was born Jan. 25, 1931 in Eagle, Mich., to Russell and Mildred (Ike) Barnes.

He served a tour during the Korean War in the early 1950s, returning to Eagle to farm and drive a truck. In 2004, he moved permanently to Troy, where his daughter, Karla, and grandson, Jared, lived.

Mr. Barnes enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. His last occupation was working as a security guard for Environmental Restoration until October 2009.

His son, Joel J. Barnes, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his children, Karla K. Barnes of Troy; and Brenda Joyce Dreyer and husband Casey of Howard City, Mich.; sister, Aletha Cosens of Portland, Mich,; and grandchildren, Carley, Kaiden and Adalyn Dreyer, Hunter and Dalton Barnes, and Jared Gray.

A memorial will be held this coming year.
