Wrestling: Polson edges LHS; Greenchain competes in dual tourney
In a dual that came down to arguably the best wrestlers on each squad, Polson defeated Libby on Thursday night, 36-35.
Brock Picard got a takedown in the final minute to defeat Kyle Sweedman, 4-2, at 171 pounds and give the Pirates an insurmountable seven-point lead. Libby's Logan Neubauer got six points back in the dual’s final match at 189 to account for the final score.
Besides Neubauer, other winners for the Greenchain included Mike Roby (125), Mitch Haugen (130), Kyle Leir (135), Dylan Berget (145), Austin Bailey (160) and Kody Berget (215).
Libby actually won more matches than Polson, 8-7, with a forfeit at 112 pounds. But the Pirates piled up points with a 5-2 advantage on pins.

Western A Duals
The Libby High School wrestling team won four of six matches at the Western A Duals Friday and Saturday at Ronan.
The Greenchain won over Deerlodge, 82-6; Flathead, 40-33; Thompson Falls, 57-30; and Flathead JV, 53-21 during round-robin action with the lone loss coming to Corvallis, 61-15.
Libby ended up in the fifth- and sixth-place match against the host school, Ronan, and suffered a 42-39 defeat.
The Greenchain compiled a 39-29 on-the-mat record with 29 pins. Libby won 74 percent of its matches by pin.
Individually, Kyle Sweedman (171 pounds) and Dylan Berget (145) both won all of their matches. Sweedman went 5-0 with five pins while Berget went 6-0 with four pins.
Cody Elliott (140) went 5-1 with five pins; Mike Roby (125) had a 5-1 record with three pins; and Kody Berget (189) ended up 4-1 with four pins. Mitch Haugen (130) also had a winning record during the tournament at 4-2 with two pins.
Libby is scheduled to wrestle at Ronan on Thursday and then head to the Rocky Mountain Hug Beck Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Missoula.
