Letter: No business stealing your vote
Dear Editor:
The mayor of Libby is asking that I be removed from office two months after the election. That’s one month more than mayors Doug Roll and Tony Berget gave city councilman Walt McElmurry when they tried the same stunt.
The fact is, the electorate chose me over Charlie Berget fair and square. They have no business stealing your vote.
Councilman Stu Crismore got further along before he disagreed with Mayor Roll/Berget. The attempt to remove him cost you a ton of money when it failed. Mayor Roll/Berget didn’t have to pay a dime – you did.
My defensive actions are not an attack on anyone. The order of protection was a defensive action because I was under the threat of violence for trying to get you $2 million. The issue is, and always was, your $2 million restoration compensation for Operable Unit 1.
Mayor Roll/Berget still want you to pay for the park. Now they want you to pay to harass me to distract from the real issue. This is an effort to deceive, distract and defraud you out of your rightful restoration compensation of $2 million.
I will answer every single allegation Mayor Roll/Berget made in their recent letter to the editor (“Mayor Speaks Out on Orr’s Action,” Dec. 23 edition), one issue every council meeting will be entered into the public record. I will even add one. I was called a fascist for getting a City of Libby police officer fired when I ran for council; it is time that goes on the record. I have to wonder out loud why Mayor Roll/Berget forgot that one.
This will take about eight months since they made so many accusations but at least I will have the opportunity to defend my honor. That is more than councilmen McElmurry and Crismore were allowed.
In the meantime, send the comments or send the check.
D.C. Orr
Libby
