Libby High School senior Kyle Sweedman got one more shot at Polson’s Brock Picard on Saturday in the 171-pound final at the Tournament of Champions in Great Falls.

Sweedman advanced to the finals by defeating Adam Moore of Noxon in 52 seconds. Picard, who beat Sweedman the previous weekend in the Class A State Tournament’s championship match at 171, squeezed by his Libby rival by a 5-4 count.

Kody Berget of Libby also participated in the tournament and had a runner-up showing as well. Berget defeated Jake Stewart of Columbus in his semifinal match with a pin in 3:45. Chaz Hopstad of Glasgow outlasted Berget on points in the championship match, 15-13.

Wrestlers from Class B and C schools won eight championships at the event, now in its second year. The field featured 52 wrestlers – including 28 state champions – from all classifications.

The tournament is sponsored by the Great Falls law firm, Hoyt and Blewett.
