Rider applications for STOKR (Scenic Tour of the Kootenai River) are currently available online and in Libby, organizers of the annual event announced. This year’s event will be staged on May 8-9.

STOKR, sponsored by Kootenai Valley Partners Habitat for Humanity, is the main fundraiser of the affiliate. The ride is limited to 400 riders who come from all over the nation  – but especially from Missoula, Spokane and the Flathead Valley.

Organizer Susie Rice said the event is a two-day ride but participants are also given the option of riding just on Saturday or Sunday. The ride on Saturday has two options for distance – a 45-mile loop that explores the Iron Creek/Lake Creek areas near Troy and a 98-mile ride covers the entire Yaak loop.

Sunday’s ride is 38 miles up to the Libby Dam and back.

Registration is $50 for two days, $45 for Saturday only or $20 for Sunday only.

Entry forms are available online at www.stokr.org , at the Montana Athletic Club or the Libby Chamber of Commerce. The deadline to enter is March 7.

Local volunteers provide food and support. To volunteer to help, e-mail Rice at: susierice@frontiernet.net .
