Harold N. 'Bud' Johnson

Harold N. “Bud” Johnson, 89, a longtime Libby resident, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital from natural causes.

He was born Sept. 1, 1920 in Baudette, Minn., to Bernard and Nellie Perry Johnson. At age 16 when his father died, he took his father’s job at J. Neil’s Lumber Co., to help support the family.

He married Laura B. Schooley on July 27, 1940. Mr. Johnson joined the U.S. Army and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He worked for J. Neil’s Lumber Co., and their successors for 46 years.

His wife preceded him in death on Nov. 10, 1985. Mr. Johnson later met and married Dolores Mysse and she preceded him in death on Dec. 13, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bob, Bill and Elmer; and a sister, Dolly.

Mr. Johnson was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman who loved hunting, fishing and berry picking. Family will remember him as a caring and giving man whose presence will be missed by all.

Survivors include a sister, Florence Renfro of Kenmore, Wash.; daughters, Kendra Johnson Lind of Libby; and Kay Tarbert and husband Kim of Libby; granddaughters, Toni Schone and husband Michael of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Lee Ann Bentley and husband Joe of Dayton; great-granddaughters, Shannon and Hayley Blair of Colorado Springs, Colo.; numerous nieces and nephews; and the extended family of his second wife including stepdaughters Sandra Berning of Ohio; and Carol Uptagrafft and husband Pat of Post Falls, Idaho; and stepson, Louis Mysse and wife Lydia of Libby.

Services will be at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 27 at Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby.

Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m., on Friday.
