Sports Update: LHS girls defeat Columbia Falls
The Libby High School girls basketball team played well in its regular-season home finale on Tuesday night with a 51-44 victory over Columbia Falls.
The Lady Loggers fought back from an early 8-0 deficit to tie the game, 10-10, by the end of the first quarter behind a trio of 3-pointers by Jackie Mee. The Logger senior was just getting warmed up and ended up scoring 29 points with six 3-pointers.
Libby went on a 12-0 run in the third quarter to lead by eight points. Columbia Falls got back to within 47-44 with 16 seconds left but free throws by Mee and LaRona Luscher iced the victory for the Loggers.
Along with Mee's 29, Luscher finished with 10 points. Kelsey DeWit scored 16 for the Wildkats.
