Letter: Against reclassifying minor offenses

| February 10, 2010 11:00 PM

Dear Editor:

The City of Libby should not reclassify minor offenses to a municipal infraction to save money and stop Libby citizens from using the court system to settle disputes.

We, the citizens of Libby, have a right to dispute any charges against us in a court of law if we choose and sometimes the citizens are correct in unfair charges against them. This proposal is exactly what the city and citizens do not need.

Libby government is not a dictatorship and we have the right to address our grievances with our government. Yes, even the poor have this right.
