Ida D. Stewart

Ida D. Stewart, 81, of Troy died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital in Libby from natural causes.

She was born Nov. 9, 1928 in Whitefish to August and Rose Mary Christian Morey. She grew up in Ural and Warland. She attended school in Whitefish, Eureka and Libby and graduated in Libby with the Class of 1946.

She married Ted Montgomery in 1946 and they had seven children. He preceded her in death in 1964. On Dec. 31, 1976, she married Ellis Stewart.

Mrs. Stewart was a homemaker who took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed painting, quilting, gardening and growing flowers. Family also said she loved all things God made and the 102 family members she leaves behind.

Survivors include her husband of Troy; eight children, Rose Carvey and husband Steve of Eureka; Rick Montgomery and wife Sue of Kamiah, Idaho; Jim Montgomery and wife Judy of Troy; Mickey Montgomery and wife Yolanda of Kettle Falls, Idaho; Chuck Montgomery and wife Donna of Rexford; Vivian Drake and husband Jeff of Troy; Vernon Montgomery and Tina of Eureka; and Lela Stewart of Great Falls; sister, Viola McMillian of Anchorage, Alaska; 24 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m., at Three Lakes Community Church Activity Building. Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 11 from 1-8 p.m., at Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby.
