Military: Staff Sgt. Daniel R. Knapp

Air Force Staff Sgt. Daniel R. Knapp has deployed overseas to a forward operating base to serve in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

He is the son of Linda Decker of Libby and Randy Knapp of Metropolis, Ill. He is a 1998 graduate of Libby High School.

Operation Enduring Freedom is the official name given to anti-terrorism military operations involving U.S. troops and allied coalition partners. Active duty and reserve component members from all branches of the U.S. armed forces have been deployed to support the war against global terrorism outside the borders of the United States.

Knapp, an aircraft metals technology craftsman is regularly assigned to the 92nd Maintenance Squadron at Fairchild Air Force Base, Spokane, Wash.
