The Libby High School boys basketball

team split a pair of games on Friday and Saturday at the Tip-Off

Tournament.

The Loggers opened the annual

Northwestern vs. Southwestern tournament in Corvallis with a 42-35

loss to a tough Dillon squad. The game remained close throughout

with Dillon holding leads of 11-9 after the first and 18-14 at

halftime. Libby still trailed by four points heading into the final

eight minutes but the Beavers held on to take the victory.

LHS senior Kelly May scored 17 points

to lead his team offensively. Alex Cislo added eight.

J.T. Linder scored 16 points for

Dillon, which was playing its season opener.

The Loggers came back the following day

in Hamilton and posted a 57-39 win over Frenchtown, a school that

will transition into the Northwestern A next year following

realignment.

Libby shot out to a 17-7 lead in the

first quarter and extended its advantage to 30-8 by halftime. The

Loggers’ defense limited the Broncs to a single point in the second

quarter.

Frenchtown scored more than half of its

total points over the final eight minutes against LHS backups.

May again led the way in the scoring

department with 15 points. Cislo hit for 10 and Garrett Craig had

seven.

Libby (0-0, 2-1) was scheduled to host

Glacier on Tuesday evening. The Loggers will hit the court again at

6 p.m. Saturday at home against Flathead.
