Volleyball: Lady Trojans fall to Darby in five-game match
In a match that came down to a final game to 15, the Troy High School volleyball team saw its fortunes run short in a 14-25, 25-20, 14-25, 25-21, 15-10 loss to nonconference opponent Darby.
Playing on the floor at Mission, the Lady Trojans seemed to be in good shape through the first three games. Although Troy had dropped the second game by five points, Sandra Jansma’s squad won the other two by 11 points each. But Darby eeked out the four-point win in game four and then took the match in game five.
Ashley Paasch and Kristin Parks each had big matches hitting for the Trojans with 14 kills apiece. Parks also had a block and Kimmy Klin finished with 25 digs and five ace serves. Alyssa Olds had all 43 of the team’s set assists.
Sarah Jakober led Darby with 10 kills and four blocks.
Troy plays host to Noxon on Thursday and then heads to Plains on Saturday.
