Volleyball: Troy beats Valley Christian, falls to Loyola
Going into last weekend’s pair of matches in Missoula, Troy volleyball coach Sandra Jansma knew her team should be favored to beat Valley Christian but have its work cut out against Loyola Sacred Heart.
That analysis held true as the Lady Trojans ended up with a split. Troy downed Valley Christian, 20-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-12 and fell to Sacred Heart, 25-17, 25-13, 24-26, 25-12.
Ashley Paasch had a big weekend for Troy – especially in the match against Valley Christian. Paasch, a 5-foot-7 senior outside hitter, collected five kills, nine digs and eight ace serves in the victory. Kristin Parks and Ashley Suber also had five kills while Michaela Curry came up with a pair of blocks. Parks contributed nine digs and Alyssa Olds had 19 set assists.
Sacred Heart remained unbeaten this season with the victory over Troy. Paasch had a team-high six kills to go along with eight digs and two blocks. Parks had a pair of blocks, Jessica Lyons recorded eight digs, Olds finished with 15 assists and Kimmy Klin served three aces.
The Lady Trojans will play away from home again this coming Saturday with a trip to St. Ignatius to play Darby. The match is scheduled to begin at noon.
