Clyde F. Bowen

Clyde F. Bowen, 90, died Sept. 15, 2009 at his home in Troy.

He was born in Philipsburg on Jan. 8, 1919, the son of Frederick and Eunice (Plumlee) Bowen. He grew up in Philipsburg, where he graduated high school.

He joined the military during World War II and was stationed at Lancaster Air Force Base. After serving in the military, he returned to Philipsburg. He met Francella Heffner in Missoula and they were married on Sept. 4, 1948 in Missoula.

He worked at the Gambles Store in Missoula, and in September 1955, he purchased the Gambles in Troy. He worked in the store until his retirement at age 87.

Mr. Bowen loved fishing – especially fly fishing – and was an avid hunter. He enjoyed photography, gardening and his family – mostly his grandchildren. He spent years in the Yaak.

Survivors include his wife, “Sandy” Bowen of Troy; sons, Jim Bowen and Steve Bowen of Troy; daughters, Sandra Robins of Troy and Debbie Haines of Missouri; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

At his request, no services will be held.
