Rosemary Penney Hedahl

Rosemary Penney Hedahl, 84, died on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009 at the Libby Care Center.

Rosemary “Tina” Penney Hedahl was born June 12, 1925 in Kalispell to Walter Scott Penney and Amber (Lea) Penney.

She received her education at Kalispell schools. She went to work for Montgomery Wards and later worked as a switchboard operator.

She met Alton “Tony” Hedahl in February 1940 on a blind date. After World War II, they were married on Feb. 6, 1946. Over the course of their 63 years of marriage, they made their home in Great Falls, Columbia Falls, Kalispell, Bigfork, Warland, Libby and Hot Springs. After retirement, they moved back to Libby.

Mrs. Hedahl was a “home body” who loved hunting, fishing, camping and huckleberry picking. She also loved spending time with family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will remember her as a loving, gentle person whose cookies and holiday meals will leave a lasting impression.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Bill, Glenn and Jay Penney; one sister, June Marrow; and one grandson, Ty Hedahl.

She is survived by her husband, Alton “Tony” Hedahl of Libby; children, Allyson (Doug) Nixon of Libby; Kris Hedahl of Deer Lodge; and Mark (Diane) Hedahl of Thompson Falls; one sister, Ida Johnson of Livingston; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

The public is invited to visitation from 2-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at the Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby.
