(Note: Newsroom Journal is a collection of various notes and observations through the eyes of Brad Fuqua, managing editor of the Western News in Libby, Mont. The journal is updated periodically as the week progresses.)

Sunday, Oct. 4

• 7:05 p.m. – Just got off the phone with the Libby volleyball coach. The team had a rough time on Saturday against Polson. The girls have a good team this year but made a few too many mistakes in the loss to the Pirates. They play again in Polson on Oct. 22.

Monday, Oct. 5

• 11:45 a.m. – Been working on sports stories all morning. Did interviews with Rich McElmurry (Troy football), Rod Tempel (Libby cross country) and Dann Rohrer (Libby golf). Will post stories over the course of the work day while putting together Wednesday's edition.
