Lacie Ann Hedahl
Lacie Ann Hedahl, 39, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009 at her home in Post Falls, Idaho.
She was born May 28, 1970 in Libby to Keith and Sara Day Hedahl. She grew up in Libby and attended local schools. She graduated from Libby High School with the class of 1988.
At an early age she showed a love for music and singing. After high school she attended the Lionel Hampton School of Music and earned a master’s degree in Saxophone Performance and Education. Her master’s thesis was based on a new way to teach music, which she called Soiel Fish. She used this new method of teaching in her classroom. Soiel Fish has been a part of the University of Idaho’s musical curriculum for a number of years now.
She participated in Lionel Hampton Jazz Festivals doing solos and singing in the jazz choirs. She loved the children she taught and her passion for music was obvious in her teachings. She was a mentor and will be remembered as an inspiration to her students and peers. She taught for one year at Lewiston, Idaho, and for 10 years at Lake City, Idaho. She took her choirs to greatness, winning many awards.
Family said that dearest to her heart were her Shih-Tzus – Lady Bud and Boo.
Survivors include her parents Keith and Sara Hedahl of Libby; brothers, Jeremy Hedahl and wife Kim and their daughter Audrey of Spokane, Wash.; Eli Hedahl and wife Tasha of Spokane; a grandmother, Helen Hedahl of Richmond, Va.; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Services were Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009 at Christ Lutheran Church in Libby.
