Huston W. Hanson

Huston W. Hanson, 68, of Libby died on Nov. 9, 2009 in Libby.

He was born on Nov. 7, 1941 at Winter, Wis., the son of Conrad and Leora Dresden Hanson. He grew up in Greenville and Taylorsville in northern California. He graduated from high school in Greenville in 1960.

He married Norma Wilburn on Oct. 7, 1967 in Reno, Nev. He started working for the U.S. Forest Service in 1966 and remained until his retirement in 1996. He worked on Plumas National Forest and Kootenai National Forest. He came to Libby in 1979 and in 1986 went to work at Mount Hood National Forest in Oregon. He returned to Libby after he retired.

Mr. Hanson enjoyed hunting, woodworking and measuring and scoring horns. He was a member of the Igniters Car Club, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his wife Norma Hanson of Libby; daughter, Lauri Griffith of California; three sisters, Eleonora Hammill and husband Carl; Viola Gibson and husband Billy; Vivian Tolen and husband Carol; and a brother, Bob Krug – all of California; granddaughters, Krystal Griffith, Breanna Barnetene – both of California; grandson, Eric Harrison of Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private family services are being held. Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby handled arrangements.
