Libby’s No. 1 singles player, Alex Cislo, and the doubles team of Nate Broden and Cyrus Maloney competed Thursday and Friday at the Class A state tennis tournament in Kalispell.

The Logger boys did not claim any victories on the scoreboard but Broden and Maloney gave their consolation match opponents a run for the money. Playing Sam Lubbers and Josh Meier of Stevensville, the Libby duo won the first set, 6-4, before dropping the second, 6-1. In the deciding set, Lubbers and Meier had to go to a tiebreaker to move past Broden and Maloney, 7-6.

Steven Sheehy and Jesse Robins of Billings Central defeated Broden and Maloney in the first round, 6-2, 6-1.

Cislo had a pair of heartbreaking losses that went the full three sets. In the opening round, Hamilton’s Bob Huppert fought past Cislo with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win. And in the consolation bracket, Dawson County’s Josh Hill eliminated Cislo with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 victory.
