Libby High School junior Jackie Mee won her third straight divisional title on Saturday with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Polson’s Jane Probst in the No. 1 singles final in Kalispell.

Mee will try for her first state title Friday and Saturday – also in Kalispell.

Mee opened divisionals on Thursday with a second-round victory over Polson’s Sara Keeble, 6-1, 6-2. She had a bye in the first round.

“Yeah, the first match was a little shaky … just getting back into the tournament atmosphere,” Mee said of her divisional opener Thursday. “But then, I’m starting to get to where I should be.”

Mee had no problems the rest of the way. On Friday, she cruised past Columbia Falls’ Gabi Stenger, 6-0, 6-0 and Bigfork’s Jade Bosic, 6-0, 6-1.

Then on Saturday, she won the title with the victory over Probst. Mee is now 17-0 during a season in which she’s trying to just take them one point, one set and one match at a time.

“I try not to (think about it). It puts a little bit (of pressure on you),” she said. “When you go out there, you don’t think about the big picture. You just try to focus on one shot.”

Mee has found nothing but success so far.

“If I’m serving well, the rest of my game goes with it,” Mee said. “It’s been pretty consistent.”

The tournament was staged at Flathead Valley Community College and the Glacier Tennis Club.

Overall, the girls finished second behind Polson. The Pirates compiled 62 points compared to Libby’s 40. Bigfork was third followed by Whitefish and Columbia Falls.

Besides Mee, also advancing to state is the doubles team of Nichole Newman and Anna Valentine. Newman and Valentine cruised through the first round and then came back from a 6-0 first set loss in the quarterfinals to claim victory. In the semifinals, the duo defeated Heather Mathison and Kelsie Jones of Polson, 7-6, 6-2, to reach the doubles finals.

Kayla and Kendyall Rochin of Polson took the divisional title over Newman and Valentine, 6-0, 6-3.

For the boys, Libby ended up in fourth place with 22 points. Whitefish finished first with 58, followed by Bigfork, Columbia Falls, Libby and Polson.

In singles, Libby’s Alex Cislo qualified for state and in doubles, Cyrus Maloney and Nate Broden advanced – both with fourth-place finishes.

Cislo received a first-round bye and defeated Colter Mahlum of Bigfork in the second round. Cislo dropped a three-set match to Whitefish’s Tanner Hosek in the quarterfinals.

Cislo fought back out of the consolation bracket beating Sean Barrett of Bigfork and Bridger Mahlum of Bigfork. That put him in the consolation finale where he dropped a 6-4, 6-3 decision to Whitefish’s Tanner Hosek.

In doubles, Maloney and Broden really had to fight back after a first-round loss. In consolations, the Libby tandem won two matches in straight sets and then downed Whitefish’s Jake Morrison and Travis Adams to advance to the consolation final. Polson’s Shad Giles and Kyle Cooper beat Maloney and Broden, 6-2, 6-1.

The top four singles players and doubles teams advanced to the State A tournament beginning Thursday in Kalispell.
