Betty D. Johnston

Beatrice “Betty” D. Johnston, 95, died May 13, 2009 at her home in Troy.

She was born on June 14, 1913 at Wilbur, Wash., the daughter of Leo and Ethel (Hawkins) Rubier. She grew up in St. Maries, Idaho and moved to Troy in 1942 with her husband, Jim, and sons, Jim and Donald. 

She enjoyed attending sports events and playing card games, including bridge and cribbage, as well as fishing trips and family time. She worked at Coffman Market for several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. “Jim” Johnston, son, James L. “Jim” Johnston and a brother, Dick Rubier.

Survivors include son, Donald Johnston of Troy; brother, Bob Rubier of Las Vegas, Nev.; granddaughter, Kelli Flanagan and husband Tom of Anchorage, Alaska; and grandson, Todd Johnston and wife Angie of Clarkston, Wash.; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
