The Libby High School softball team dropped back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday with region losses to Columbia Falls and Ronan.

In Friday’s 15-8 loss at home to Columbia Falls, the Lady Loggers got into an 11-1 hole at one point before attempting a massive rally. Libby picked up seven runs over the final two innings but the deficit was too big to overcome.

Seven players picked up hits – led by Nicky Lapka’s 2-for-3, Amber Grubham’s 2-for-4 and Lexi Hageness’ 2-for-4. Emily Monroe hit a two-run homer. Grubham, Hageness and Jordan Refsland each had doubles.

Libby ran into a hot pitcher in Saturday’s 5-0 loss at Ronan. Kaylee Larson, who had pitched a no-hitter two days earlier against Stevensville, limited the Lady Loggers to just one hit.

Alysha Martin’s single in the sixth inning broke up Larson’s attempt at another no-no. Ronan scored four runs in the second and added another in the sixth.

Taylor Armstrong was the pitcher of record in both games.

Libby (10-10) is scheduled to play Thursday against Whitefish in its final home game. The start time was moved up to 5 p.m. because there will be no junior varsity game.
