Letter: Post Office thankful for food donations

| May 14, 2009 12:00 AM

Dear Editor:

The Libby Post Office thanks our many postal customers for giving to the National Association of Letter Carriers annual food drive for the hungry on Saturday, May 9.

Postal customers donated 4,500 pounds of food. All of the food collected goes to local community food banks serving the hungry throughout the year.

With the poor economy, many more people and families are hurting. This food will go to those in our communities who most need it.

While national, state and other local community totals are still being counted, it’s estimated the letter carriers’ food drive again nationwide collected over 70 million pounds to support America’s hungry this year.

Thanks again to our great community and to our many giving postal customers and food drive participants for helping to stamp out hunger.

Bruce T. Moog, Libby postmaster, and Sam Kraft, Libby Post Office food drive coordinator
