Libby tennis girls win back-to-back matchups
The Libby High School girls rolled to victories over Whitefish and Columbia Falls last week.
Jackie Mee continued her perfect season with singles victories over Whitefish’s Kate Klundt (6-1, 6-0) on Friday and Columbia Falls’ Laura Burgi on Saturday (6-1, 6-0).
In other victories from the 5-2 victory vs. Whitefish, Audra Poppen defeated Merideth Reed (6-1, 6-4), Lindsey Kehn downed Courtney Wilder (7-6, 6-2) and Ashley Shaw took care of Devan Skelton (6-4, 6-0). The doubles team of Nichole Newman and Anna Valentine beat Anne Miller and McCara Cullen in a marathon (4-6, 6-2, 7-6).
On Saturday in Libby’s 6-1 victory over Columbia Falls, joining Mee as winning singles players were Poppen (6-2, 6-4) and Kehn (4-6, 7-5, 6-4). Newman and Valentine won at No. 1 doubles (6-2, 6-1), Ashley Shaw and Tawnya Granger took the No. 2 doubles match (7-5, 2-6, 6-4) and Alissa Buti and Kyla O’Brien won No. 3 doubles (2-6, 6-2, 6-4).
Libby’s boys fell to Whitefish, 5-2, on Friday and lost a 4-3 match to Columbia Falls on Saturday.
Against Whitefish, Cree Maloney and Cody Ercanbrack each had singles wins. Maloney downed Joel Mallams, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 while Ercanbrack defeated Tyler Schiff, 6-3, 6-3.
Maloney also won his singles match on Saturday against Columbia Falls. He beat Miroslav Zvyagelskiy, 6-2, 6-2. In doubles, winners for Libby included Jesse Ramos and Lewis Brossman (6-3, 6-2) and Derek Willis and Levi Edwards-Myslicki (6-3, 6-2).
The Loggers are scheduled to play in Kalispell Thursday through Saturday for the divisional tournament.
