LHS tennis girls sweep 3 matches

The Libby High School girls tennis team swept three matches last week with victories over Whitefish, Columbia Falls and Eureka.

On Thursday in a 4-3 win over Whitefish, Lady Logger winners included Jackie Mee (6-0, 6-0) and Chelsey Oedewaldt (6-3, 6-3) in singles, and Nichole Newman and Anna Valentine (6-3, 6-1), and Kyla O’Brien and Tawnya Granger (6-4, 6-1) in doubles.

Libby followed up with a 4-3 win over Columbia Falls on Friday. Mee (6-0, 6-0), Poppen (6-0, 6-4) and Ashley Shaw (2-6, 6-2, 6-3) took their singles matches. In doubles, Newman and Valentine were victorious (4-6, 6-3, 6-4).

The Lady Loggers then swept Eureka, 7-0, on the road Saturday. Singles winners were Mee (6-1, 6-0), Poppen (6-2, 6-3), Lindsey Kehn (6-1, 6-1) and Oedewaldt (5-7, 7-5, 6-4). Doubles winners were Newman and Valentine (6-0, 6-0), Shaw and Alissa Buti (7-5, 6-2), and Granger and O’Brien (7-6, 6-1).

For the boys, Libby fell to Whitefish, 5-2, before rebounding to down Columbia Falls, 4-3.

Hunter Sheffield (0-6, 6-4, 6-3) and Levi Edwards-Myslicki (3-6, 6-3, 7-5) had singles wins for LHS against Whitefish.

Against Columbia Falls, the Loggers swept the singles matches with victories by Alex Cislo (6-1, 6-0), Sheffield (6-0, 6-0), Cree Maloney (6-0, 6-0) and Edwards-Myslicki (7-5, 6-3).

Libby heads to Whitefish on Friday and Columbia Falls on Saturday.

Divisionals will then follow in Kalispell. Bigfork will serve as the host school. For those that advance to state, the tournament is scheduled for May 21-22 – also in Kalispell.
