Logger teams take Eureka Invite
The Libby boys and girls track teams each took first place at Tuesday’s Eureka Invitational. Troy’s boys placed third and the Trojan girls were fourth.
Individually, Libby’s Kody Berget won both hurdle events with a time of 17.53 in the 100 highs and 44.0 in the 300 intermediates. Dylan Berget also had a first-place showing with a 5:11 in the 1600-meter run.
The Logger boys had two relay champs. The 400-relay of Kyle Berke, Kody Berget, Dietrich Coleman and Dean Willey sprinted the oval in 46.28. The 1600 relay of Berke, Evan May, Kody Berget and Coleman won with a time of 3:49.83.
Libby won with 85.5 points – just one point better than runner-up Eureka. Troy was third with 46 and Fernie Secondary fourth with 25.
For the Lady Loggers, Erin Baker had a big day with three first-place performances. Baker won the javelin with a throw of 95-10, won the shot with a distance of 29-9 and won the discus with a mark of 87-1.
Rachael Sweedman took first in the 800-meter run in 2:51.40. Kaila Forster broke the tape in the 300 low hurdles in 51.63. And Devon Hoyer cleared 4-8 to win the high jump.
In the team scoring, LHS compiled 72 points to edge Fernie Secondary’s 69. Eureka was third with 61 and Troy fourth with 23.
For the Trojan girls, Ali Maestas had the lone victory when she covered the 400-meter dash in 1:05.56. The boys had several who placed with a Troy victory coming in the 800-meter dash when Kalip Gregory came in with a 2:20.0.
