LHS choir members head to State

The Libby High School concert choir received high marks during the District Music Festival on April 17-18 at Columbia Falls.

Lorraine Braun, director of choirs, said that on the first day, the choir performed for three adjudicators and were awarded a superior rating. The Cabinet Mountain Singers, an 11-member SATB ensemble, also received a superior rating for both songs they sang at district.

Several students performed solos, duets or trios both days trying to earn a superior rating to qualify for the State Music Festival.

The choir students that did receive superior ratings and qualified for State: Chancey Auge, Chelsea Ahart, Lindsey Kehn, Joe Guches, Kimberly Curtiss, Stephen Adams, Angel Hale, Andi Moog, Cassi Moog, Kat Wilson, Sarah Kirschenmann, Elissa Taylor, Bryce James, Aja Barnett, John Vinion, Kaleb Wilson, Robert Soppe and Jason Schikora.

Lindsey Kehn and Tyler Kneller also received superior ratings on their piano solos and will be performing them again at State.

The students that performed solos and duets but will not be attending State with the other choir students are Stephanie Shuey, Stephanie Parsons, Jessica Parsons, Stormy Miller, Alex Blevins and Ashley Neisess.  

The State Music Festival is coming up Friday and Saturday at the University of Montana in Missoula.
