Top to Red Dog Relay Race scheduled for Saturday

The seventh annual Turner Mountain Top to Red Dog Relay Race will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28 at the Turner Mountain Ski Resort near Libby.

The relay involves four people – a skier/climber, downhill skier, runner and cyclist. The first leg begins midway down Turner Mountain with the entrant required to climb while wearing either skis or snowshoes. The second leg is skiing from the top of Turner to the parking lot, a stretch that includes a small slalom course. The third leg is a 3.2-mile run from the Turner parking lot to East Fork/Pipe Creek Road. And the fourth leg is a 12-mile bicycle ride from East Fork/Pipe Creek Road to the Red Dog Saloon.

Organizers said the race will occur even if Turner Mountain is closed, however, no ski resort closure is anticipated.

To participate in the Turner Mountain Top to Red Dog Relay Race, sign up at the Turner Mountain Lodge. The entry fee is $10 per team member and all participants receive a T-shirt.

Turner Mountain Crazy Days includes variety of fun events

Turner Mountain Crazy Days is scheduled for Saturday, March 28 at the Turner Mountain Ski Resort near Libby.

A tradition that has continued for more than four decades, Crazy Days features events such as frisbee golf disc toss, four-person relay, cardboard sled race and costume contest. There will also be a potluck (bring own table setting) and live music by the band, “Back Adit.”

Organizers said Crazy Day events will be going on all day.
