Letter: Outrageous actions surround AIG situation
Dear Editor:
The news that AIG is paying their executives bonuses totaling about $180 million out of the $180 billion American taxpayers put in to save this company from ruin is only the latest outrage in a whole series of outrageous actions of late.
First of all, what kind of a stupid company pays a bonus to people whose irresponsible actions caused billions in losses? Secondly, what kind of an idiot government do we have that takes an 80 percent stake in a company without first knowing the liabilities we are assuming? “Oh, not to worry” we are told. These bonuses amount to only .01 percent of the $180 billion.
Our government is so spend happy that $180 million is considered chicken feed and no cause for concern.
Is it too much to hope that we, the people, might one day win a round? In the meantime, get back to work so the tax-and-spend cycle can continue.
