Alan Carl Broden
Alan Carl Broden, 53, of Hayden, Idaho, died Feb. 28, 2009 at Kootenai Medical Center from congestive heart failure and pneumonia.
Mr. Broden was born in Libby on Dec. 4, 1955. He attended school in Libby and immediately after high school graduation went to work for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office as a police dispatcher.
He married Shirley Gilder Dec. 17, 1976 and had four children. In 1979 they moved to Hayden, Idaho where Mr. Broden went to work for the Coeur d’Alene Police Department’s dispatch center that later consolidated to become the Kootenai County Central Dispatch Center. He retired in late 2008 after 34 years in law enforcement.
Mr. Broden enjoyed reading, history, trains, computers, and his grandsons. After raising kids for so many years, the couple got to travel together some, but had many trips yet to take. He enjoyed traveling to each of his children’s homes for visits and taking his mom to lunch in Libby.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Hayden; sons, John (wife Heather) of Boise, Idaho; and Josiah (Lisa) of Cameron, Texas; daughters, Cyndi Holbert (Ed) of Pocatello, Idaho, and Sarah Broden in college at Moscow, Idaho; and four grandsons, Patrick, Benjamin, Keith, and Garrett. He is also survived by his mother, Elsie Broden of Libby; brothers Robert (wife Vicky), Bruce (Penney), Kirk (Tami) and Kim (Bobbie); sisters, Linda Randash (Rod), Brenda Cooper (Gary), Kathy Ague (Tim) and Kris Reid (Ray); and numerous nieces and nephews.
